An Open Letter to Myself

3864428536_e4c370bf64_mDear Ryan,

I hope you are well. I wanted you to know something. You are loved. You have spent alot of your life thinking about and struggling with the downfalls in your life. You have a great memory and unfortunately, sometimes that’s not the best thing. I want to urge you to forget some things. Don’t let them haunt you. Yes, it will be difficult but it has to be done. Do you remember what John Perkins told you in Bible study that one time in Cincinnati? He was preaching out of 1st Samuel, about how God regretted ever making Saul king. Do you remember how that made you feel? You felt like God ever regretted making anything out of yourself. You felt like there was no way that you could get back in the saddle and truly be released to love God and people wholly again. You felt confused, tired, ashamed, bitter, and mad. But then you felt…….LOVED! God allowed you to pick up the pieces of brokenness and He moved you towards a better life. And isn’t that what he always does? Ryan, do not quit loving yourself because God hasn’t.

Love,
Ryan
